Alegro Shopping Centers manged by Nhood are SUPERBRANDS®
Nhood, a global real estate solutions platform for mixed-use projects, has been recognized for its management and innovation strategy, with the Alegro Shopping Centers – real estate assets under its management – being awarded the Superbrands® stamp.
Located in Alfragide, Castelo Branco, Montijo, Setúbal, and Sintra, the Alegro Shopping Centers have been distinguished with the 2024 Superbrands® seal, a recognition that elevates the Alegro brand to the level of excellence in Portugal. This highlights the work Nhood has implemented as a manager of innovative shopping spaces that actively respond to new lifestyles.
This is the first time that this distinction, which highlights the most relevant brands in the market based on a consumer study and the evaluation of a council of experts, has been awarded to shopping centers in Portugal. As a result, Alegro is recognized for excelling in its daily work for its customers, receiving the Superbrands® seal from the independent international organization dedicated to identifying and promoting Brands of Excellence in 89 countries.
For Maura Teixeira, Marketing & Innovation Director Iberia at Nhood, “The awarding of the Superbrands seal is a recognition of Nhood’s management work regarding the evolution and growth of the Alegro brand. We take pride in the path we’ve followed to meet the objectives of our clients, the owners of the assets we manage, whether through innovation, a differentiated offering (with diversified uses beyond retail), or, crucial to our vision, through active listening to the community. Every decision is made in line with what we learn from engaging with the community, along with market analyses, strategy definition, and, of course, coordination with different stakeholders. This allows us to adapt our actions to the reality of each location while maintaining the brand’s core. The result is a dynamic and distinct ecosystem where everyone – from management teams to on-the-ground teams, including retailers, partners, and customers – directly contributes to the success of the Alegro brand.”
Among Nhood’s key principles is the objective to transform square meters into vibrant places with diversified uses and positive impact, while ensuring returns for the investors, owners, and tenants it represents. The focus is on creating value for Alegro from an attractiveness and long-term sustainability perspective, based on over two decades of expertise in shopping center management as well as other real estate sectors.
In recognizing the role that shopping centers play for communities and territorial development, Nhood has been diversifying the uses of Alegro Shopping Centers, including co-working spaces, healthcare services, and even public services. It has also introduced new lifestyle initiatives, with cultural, artistic, interactive, and technological experiences. This strategy responds to the evolving consumer habits and the desire for more complete and integrated experiences.
Continuously betting on innovation, Alegro was the first dog-friendly shopping center and the first to install an indoor skydiving wind tunnel. It was also a pioneer in Portugal with the introduction of the “Quiet Hour,” which reduces noise and stimuli to make the centers more accessible to people with autism spectrum disorders. On the inclusivity front, the Color ADD system, which helps colorblind people identify colors, also stands out.
With innovation and community involvement at its core, Alegro has also been committed to promoting sustainable practices, such as the use of 100% renewable energy. E-Power services, which offer electric vehicle charging powered by solar energy, and BikePod, with free lockers for bicycles, are prime examples. The implementation of bike lanes further promotes soft mobility to and from Alegro centers.
Winning the Superbrands distinction represents a significant incentive for Nhood to continue promoting the evolution of the real estate assets it manages, innovating, and creating unforgettable moments for all visitors, further affirming these spaces as mixed-use hubs with a positive impact, open to the community.
